A Message from the Secretary-General

Dear Delegates, Faculty Advisors, and Friends of HNMUN-LA,

It is with the utmost pleasure that I welcome you to the seventh session of Harvard National Model United Nations Latin America! We are so excited to have found a permanent home for HNMUN-LA in the beautiful city of Lima, Peru, and the conference will be held from January 11th to 14th, 2018!

Founded just six years ago, HNMUN Latin America strives to equip delegates with the skills, confidence, and knowledge to be leaders of the world tomorrow. Our staff is committed to providing delegates with one of the best substantive experiences that can be found anywhere in the world. Through diplomacy, research and collaboration, delegates will craft creative and multi-faceted solutions to some of the world's most pressing issues. I sincerely hope that delegates use this opportunity for an inter-cultural exchange of ideas and beliefs to bring new perspectives to committee rooms and share them with their fellow delegates. Moreover, it is my aspiration that delegates will transform an idea from a draft resolution into real action to positively impact the world beyond Model UN.

Our fantastic staff of Harvard undergraduates are incredible to work with and are some the most experienced delegates and directors on the circuit. They have been diligently working to create a truly memorable experience for you, inside and out of committee. They will be available to you throughout the conference to address any questions or concerns you may have. I am also pleased to announce that we will be having an incredibly diverse selection of committees that will be offered in both Spanish and English. These include two committees in the General Assembly, four committees in the Economic and Social Council, two committees in the Specialized Agencies and an elaborate Third Party Actors program. Committees will be enhanced by Multimedia, expert witnesses and distinguished speakers from a diverse set of backgrounds.

On behalf of the entire Harvard team and host team, it is my honor to welcome all of you to the seventh session of HNMUN-LA. I'm very excited to meet each and every one of you and look forward to creating an unforgettable experience.
