The HNMUN-LA 2025 Secretariat

Meet the Secretariat of Harvard National Model United Nations-Latin America 2025! Together, we organize the conference, coordinate the staff, and create an exceptional experience for delegates and advisors. daniel j. ennis: Secretary-General

Dan Ennis is a senior at Harvard double concentrating in History and Applied Math. He has held many positions helping to run MUN conferences, including as the Under-Secretary-General for Business at HNMUN 2024, the Under-Secretary-General for Operations of HMUN India 2025, and the Under-Secretary-General for Administration of HNMUN-LA 2024! He also currently serves as the Head Delegate for Harvard Intercollegiate Model United Nations, the competitive Model UN Team at Harvard.

Dan hails from a small farm town in Western Massachusetts, and only joined the Model UN scene halfway through his freshman year as an Assistant Director at HMUN 2022. He has served as a Director at HMUN, HNMUN, HMUN China, HNMUN-LA, and is very excited to serve as your Secretary-General for HNMUN-LA 2025!

Outside of MUN, Dan serves as the president of Harvard Consulting on Business and the Environment, a non-profit sustainability consulting group, and the largest fully-student run nonprofit in the country!

João Victor arruda: Director-General

Victor Arruda is a senior at Harvard concentrating in Government and Art, Film, and Visual Studies. After serving as the USG for Operations last year, he is beyond excited to return as the Director-General at HNMUN-LA 2025!

Victor was born and raised in Recife, Brazil, and has been involved with Model UN since high school. At Harvard, he served as a Director for both HMUN and HNMUN in the last two iterations of the conferences. He was also a Director at other international conferences, having directed committees at HMUN India and HMUN China.

Outside of MUN, Victor has served as the Co-President of the Harvard Brazilian Association and the Graphic Design Editor of the Harvard FIG. Magazine, among other activities. In his free time, he enjoys watching movies and taking photographs. He can't wait to go back to Panama and meet each and every one of you at the conference!

mariana ramirez cabal: Under-Secretary-General for Administration

Mariana was born and raised in Cali, Colombia, and is now a junior living in Pforzheimer House studying statistics and economics with a secondary in neuroscience. She started participating in MUN during her High School years and at Harvard, she has staffed HMUN’s and HNMUN’s Boston versions as both as Assistant Director and Director, and was a director for the United Nations Security Council on last year’s version of HNMUN-LA. 

Outside of classes and MUN, Mariana serves as the Vice President for the Harvard Organization for Latin America and as Treasurer for the Colombian Student Association. She is a Calculus Course Assistant, a tutor for the HSA, and a dancer with the Harvard Modern Dance Company.

annabelle h. krause: Under-Secretary-General for Operations

Annabelle Krause is a senior at Harvard College studying History and Literature and Classical Civilizations in a joint concentration. Originally from Bronxville, New York (just thirty minutes outside of New York City), Annabelle first got involved with Model UN through the Bronxville MUN team, where she spent four years on the high school GA circuit.

Since coming to college, she has been a part of four different organs across her four conference staffing experiences, most recently serving as Head Delegate of Harvard’s competitive Model UN team and Under-Secretary-General of the Specialized Agencies at HNMUN 2024 in Boston. Next year, she will serve as the Director General for HNMUN Boston. She is so excited to attend her first HNMUN-LA as the Under-Secretary-General for Operations!  

Outside of Model UN, she is President of her sorority, Harvard Kappa Alpha Theta, and is a tour guide with the Harvard Admissions Office, and, once upon a time, before Model UN took over her life, also liked to read and hang out with her Pfo-homies in her residential college, Pforzheimer House (best house).

luis pedro chavez: Under-Secretary-General for Committees

Luis Pedro, or LP for short, is from Guatemala City, Guatemala. LP is a sophomore at Harvard studying Economics. He is super thrilled to serve as the USG for Committees at HNMUN-LA 2025!

Last year, LP led the Social, Cultural, and Humanitarian committee at HNMUN-LA. He loved the experience so much he is very happy to come back in this new capacity! In addition to this prior experience, LP has also staffed Harvard Model UN and Harvard National Model UN, in the Specialized Agencies and Operations, respectively. He is also excited to compete for Harvard’s Intercollegiate Model UN team. 

Apart from Model UN, LP spends his time in HOLA, the Harvard Organization for Latin America, and in the Harvard Crimson’s Business Board. His personal connection to Latin America, as well as his passion for substantive excellence drives his enthusiasm for this edition of HNMUN-LA. 

LP is eager to delve into the different committees to see delegates work on resolving imminent crises and important world issues. Outside of committee, he wishes to learn more about the different cultures that make Latin America special.

juan esteban gallo: Under-Secretary-General for host affairs

Juan Esteban is a junior at Harvard College doing a double concentration in Applied Math to Economics and Comparative Literature. He was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, and had the opportunity to participate as a delegate in HNMUN-LA 2020! On top of that, he directed the Commission on Narcotic Drugs in last year’s HNMUN-LA, he has served as an AD at HNMUN Boston twice, and is a director at HMUN China. Juan grew up debating in the Latin American MUN circuit, which is why HNMUN-LA holds a very special place in his heart and why he is very excited to be part of this year’s secretariat.

Outside of Model UN, Juan is the Social Chair of the Harvard Organization for Latin America, the Social Chair of the Colombian Student Society, and the Treasurer of the Harvard Colombian Student Society. Because of his continuous engagement with Latin America at Harvard and beyond, he is looking forward to working alongside the Host Team and all participating delegations in making HNMUN-LA 2025 the best it can be.
